Argentine Tango Shoes

by

Tango shoes are hard to come by in the U.S.A. Some dealers buy suitcases of shoes in Argentina and bring them back to sell at Milongas. If they don’t have anything that fits, you can request they look for something in you size on their next trip. Women’s shoes are traditionally black patent leather with leather soles and ankle straps. They have a very high and spiked heel. They are closed toe or have a small opening at the toe (similar to wedgies).

If you live in Los Angeles, I recommend you check out Worldtone in Westwood. They have a large selection of comfortable and attractive tango shoes as well as a friendly staff.

I have also ordered shoes to be custom made for me from a company in Argentina, www.guaranteedfittangoshoes.com. Be prepared to wait a LONG time to recieve your shoes. My first pair had to be sent back because the shoes were too big. I had to make some alterations to fix the replacement pair, but I do get a lot of complements when I wear them.www.tangosplash.com also has shoes you can purchase on-line.
